Alfred’s is a long-standing boutique gift and homewares store in the heart of Darwin, known for its eclectic range of products and distinctive in-store experience. With decades of history and a strong local following, they were ready to expand into online sales while maintaining the personality that makes their store unique.

The goal was to create an ecommerce website that captures the variety and character of Alfred’s, while enabling customers to browse and purchase products and services online.

The Challenge

Translating a rich in-store experience into a functional online store

Alfred’s offers a wide range of products across multiple categories and suppliers, making it challenging to organise and present everything clearly online. They also needed a way to replicate the discovery experience of being in-store, while managing large volumes of product data and maintaining consistency.

At the same time, the website needed to support online sales, integrate with their existing processes, and reflect their strong presence on social media.

Our Approach

Designing for discovery while enabling scalable ecommerce

We designed and developed a custom ecommerce website that balances usability with personality. A full-screen mega menu was implemented to showcase the breadth of product categories, making it easy for users to explore and navigate the store.

We worked closely with the client to structure and upload products from multiple suppliers, ensuring consistency and scalability across the catalogue. The site also supports online sales for both physical products and services, including knife sharpening.

To reinforce their brand presence, we integrated social media content directly into the website, creating a dynamic experience that reflects their active online community.
